Progress update 1.
We have filmed. Possibly about 3 times. We tried many of our shots in many different positions and have made minor changes to our storyboard. We experimented with the lights in various different positions to give out teaser trailer a different and unique feel to it and at one point one of us had to hold the light up just to get it in the right position. We also did our drafts for out magazine front cover and our poster and we have started selecting our clips to edit for a draft of our teaser trailer. At first, we showed a couple of people in our class the raw un-edited footage piece by piece to get their opinion on some factors, for example lighting and props. We were told that our intial clips that we had done were very under-exposed and most of them were out of focus, so we filmed again the next day in order to improve this.
We filmed the next day setting ourselves targets on what to achieve, for example correct lighting and correct camera setting. We found that 2nd time around, we managed to do a lot more shots because we had gotten used to the camera and our surroundings. We got plenty of shots, not all were perfect but a majority of them were useable. We selected the useable ones and set them aside ready for editing, but we realised that one of our crucial shots was out of focus so a further filming session was booked the week after.
The next time we filmed, we set out to do one shot of the girl’s hand dripping with blood, trying to achieve this from various different angles and mainly trying to get it in focus. We tried filming the same shot various times in one position, then in another so that when we cut them, it looks like you’re looking at the subject from a different view each time. This time, the result was good and we were satisfied with what we had produced. We conducted a lot of storyboard checks to make sure that what we were filming was indeed on our storyboard.
The poster and the magazine are in production and raw footage and images of our work will be uploaded soon.
